Peter Flanagan, Hooker for Hull KR between 1960 to 1975. Lived down
Churchill Street for a while. Made over 400 appearances for the club
and represented Great Britain 14 times and Yorkshire many times. Played in three Yorkshire Cup Final sides with Rovers and the Eastern Division Championship winning team which brought a Trophy back to Craven Park for the first time in over thirty years, in 1962.
Scored
56 tries, 13 goals and 194 points, he was transferred to Hull His initial game for Hull caused a few smiles amongst the Hull faithful, as he was named in the programme as "A.N.Other" but was instantly recognised by the crowd! After just one season with the Black and Whites, he retired from the professional game, but not before he had played in Hull's first JohnPlayer Cup Final, against Widnes; and at the end of the season he went out to Barrow, on loan for just one match as Barrow clinched the Second Division Championship.
As I recall Flash had many relations in the area, notably down Waller
Street.
