295 to 307 Hedon Road - Shops
Woodhouse Street on the left before the War

below - after the War

| Top is a section
from the 1928 map. The shops must have been demolished or bombed
during the War. In my time it was simply a bombed buildings area use
for trailers to park. Immediately after the War it became a timber
yard. My then friend Stephen Lapping lived above the shop to the right
of the arrow. The PH Public House was the old Oriental Pub bombed in the War. See pubs tour. It is actually down Woodhouse Street but just in front of it on Hedon Road on the corner is 295A. |
